After deciding to discontinue his graduate studies in philosophy and driven by his entrepreneurial spirit, Adam Francis wanted to build a business that would make a positive impact in the world. After discovering the opportunity in the healthcare staffing industry — he knew of staffing through his parents — he moved back to his hometown of San Diego in 2012 and started Host Healthcare.

The travel nurse and travel allied provider now has about 60 internal employees and was ranked by SIA as the second fastest-growing staffing firm in 2017, its first year of eligibility. Francis attributes the company’s success to its talented internal team members united by their core values and a culture of excellence.

Francis is proud of Host Healthcare’s values and continues to focus the business on a larger purpose. The company’s mission is simple: To help others live better. He often says, “Why are we here? It’s not about growth and success for its own sake, but as a means to serving a greater good of improving the lives of those we encounter.” And for Host Healthcare, this includes internal team members, their travelers, clients and patients as well.

Francis is optimistic about the years ahead. In addition to its fastest-growing staffing firm ranking, the company placed on the Inc. 500 in 2017 and has been recognized as one of the top places to work in San Diego.
