Amanda Maxedon is head of marketplace at Trusted Health, a career platform for nurses, responsible for teams that support both nurse candidates and healthcare facilities. About half of Trusted’s internal staff report to Maxedon.

Her role at Trusted has been Maxedon’s favorite job so far — and the one she is most proud of. “I just always think about who we are helping, and how that is helping a greater good,” she says. “I think that is the great thing about recruiting and staffing; you are really helping people fulfill their dreams. As long as you keep that in mind it is easy to make great decisions.”

Maxedon started her career at TEKsystems, advancing from a top-performing recruiter to launching a new enterprise resource planning staffing vertical. She then joined former colleague Matt Pierce at recruiting platform Hired, developing and ultimately running its contingent staffing product. Following Hired, she worked for Google on its Hire by Goggle applicant tracking system. Meanwhile, Pierce had started Trusted Health, and Maxedon again joined him to work on the contingent side — this time in the healthcare sector.

San Francisco-based Trusted Health’s innovative approach hires nurses on a W-2 basis and uses an automated platform to match them with openings. It launched in California in 2018 and raised $25 million in a Series A funding round last year. The company now counts about 100 internal employees and places temporary nurses in all 50 states.
