Before joining the staffing industry, Chris Layden was an intern in the office of US Sen. Edward M. Kennedy. Layden says he soon came to understand the importance of skills, jobs and employment. “When the opportunity came to work for ManpowerGroup, a company built specifically to help people develop skills,find work and stay employable for the long term, I knew this was the right step for my career,” he says.
Layden has spent 15 years at ManpowerGroup Inc., and now is senior VP of Manpower.
His philosophy is to “keep giving forward to help others achieve their potential too,” Layden says. “Switching from a career in politics to recruitment might not be the most obvious bridge, yet those who saw the connection in my career knew I had a new perspective to contribute and that made all the difference.”
In addition to staffing, Layden serves on the Workforce Advisory Council for the Digital Manufacturing & Design Innovation Institute based in Chicago. He also serves on other civic and not-for-profit boards including the Milwaukee Public Library, Milwaukee Symphony Orchestra and the Milwaukee Academy of Science.
He has also served as vice chairman of the Southeastern Wisconsin Regional Transit Authority.
