Jeff Goodell believes surrounding yourself with amazing people is critical. “I believe in the power of team,” says Goodell, who is market leader for life sciences at Korn Ferry Professional Search.

He is known for leading by example and motivating those around him. He is also known for his belief in the saying: “If you want to go fast, go alone. If you want to go far, go together.”

Goodell grew his own team to 40 in the US and Canada from just one six years ago. It provides retained search services to the life sciences industry, which can encompass pharmaceutical, biotechnology, medical devices, diagnostics, agro science, consumer health and digital health.

Goodell, who is based in Atlanta, worked in insurance sales before joining the staffing industry. He said he always had a passion for the life sciences industry — his mother was an experimental psychology professor and his father was a registered nurse. And when the opportunity came to work for a life sciences search firm, he jumped at the chance.

One of the benefits of being in life sciences search is helping to facilitate the creation of life-saving products and having an impact on patients’ lives, Goodell says.

What about the future? “I see this team continuing to grow, both in terms of people and revenue, as well as further sub-sector specialization amongst the members of the team.”
