Matt Miller is chief technology officer at professional staffing firm CyberCoders, part of ASGN Inc. He joined the firm in 2004 — with only eight employees at the time — to build and launch the first version of Cyrus, CyberCoders’ proprietary recruiting technology that enables recruiters to find and match candidates to job openings. His team is now on the third version of the technology, still building new functions and features into it, and the company now counts about 450 internal employees.
As part of the executive staff and member of the board, Miller played a key role in leading CyberCoders’ growth and eventual acquisition in 2013 by On Assignment Inc. (rebranded to ASGN Inc.) for $105 million. Miller now helps implement technology solutions throughout ASGN, which places highly skilled STEM candidates in the US and Europe. Miller remembers when the company was small, and he knew all the recruiters and their families. “Being able to build the software and watch their personal income increase was really rewarding,” he explains. “You can see first-hand how the work you are doing impacts people and their lives. I enjoy that and have stuck with that mentality my whole career here.” He sees the benefit of helping people do business development better and find better candidates faster, matching people with the right jobs. “That’s what keeps me going,” he says.
