After earning his J.D. from Boston’s Suffolk University Law School, Robert “Bobby” Brown served as an assistant district attorney in Norfolk County, Mass., and then as an associate at a business litigation firm. His job search then landed him in the staffing arena with Oxford Global Resources in 2006 as its corporate counsel. Within a year, Oxford was acquired by On Assignment, which ranks No. 10 on SIA’s Largest US Staffing Firms list; Brown has since risen to the role of Oxford’s VP and general counsel.

Brown — who wears many hats and has seen much success, including growing his department into a global presence — prefers to focus on his team. “I’m most proud when I put my team in a position where they can learn, thrive and succeed,” he says. While most people consider the legal department as a roadblock, under Brown’s leadership, his team is consistently recognized by peers for providing the highest level of service. To earn that form of recognition within a sales organization is high praise, indeed.

Brown has become a trusted voice of the staffing industry via his service with TechServe Alliance, an association that represents tech and engineering staffing firms. Brown recently completed another of his annual trips to Washington D.C., during which he lobbies and educates members of Congress on the industry. A frequent moderator and expert panelist, Brown was named an “Emerging Leader” by Boston Business Journal in 2012 and was a faculty panelist for Mass Bar Association’s Complex Commercial Litigation Section Council in 2015.
