Sara L. Gordon, VP, head of account management with Adecco USA Inc., credits her success in the staffing industry to hard work, ambition and a little good fortune. Originally interested in pursuing a PhD in industrial organizational psychology, Gordon got her start in staffing as a recruiter with Kforce Clinical Research, quickly working her way into management.
After helping Kforce Clinical Research transition during an acquisition of its business, she met Bill Ravenscroft, then VP of national accounts and international account director with Adecco, who recognized her natural sales abilities and handpicked her to take his role when he was promoted. “It was an excellent opportunity for me to shine in large account sales,” Gordon explains. “I fought hard every day in order to be successful.” One of her proudest professional accomplishments was winning Outstanding Sales Contributor in 2016.
In her current role, Gordon is focused on leadership development and building a culture based on customer centricity. Because Adecco prides itself on delivering clients the right workforce solutions, Gordon strives to holistically develop her senior-level people to be thought leaders who put clients’ needs first. “The psychologist in me is interested in understanding what drives behavior within our teams and our clients, so we can continue to develop our approach and push the boundaries of traditional workforce models,” she adds. “It’s how we continue to evolve.”
