Adam Samples hit the ground running when he joined Atrium Staffing as the president of staffing in 2015. Instituting a methodical business plan from day one, Samples has helped Atrium effectively double both its staff and leadership headcount, with homegrown talent accounting for roughly 90% of the latter. The company has approximately 270 internal employees and provides a number of services including payrolling, independent contractor compliance and contingent workforce solutions. Samples’ achievement is no surprise to those who know him. He describes himself as “incredibly competitive,” with an inner scorecard he never loses sight of.
Stronger than his competitive streak, however, is Samples’ passion for the people he works with; he gets genuine satisfaction in hiring, training, developing, and championing people, “watching them grow in their career and excel and operate at levels they never thought possible,” Samples says. His commitment to these relationships is evident — in February, Atrium won ClearlyRated’s Best of Staffing Talent Award for the fifth consecutive year, receiving satisfaction scores of nine or 10 out of 10 from 73.7% of job candidates placed. Another case in point: Atrium was named by SIA as a 2020 Best Staffing Firm to Work For.
Samples is a big proponent of the “infinite mindset,” which is reflected in his goals for his organization. In three to five years, he hopes to double Atrium’s headcount again, while spreading its “people first” mentality and culture throughout the country. He looks forward to seeing how the human cloud movement will continue to innovate the industry, particularly by enabling humans to accomplish more in even less time.
