Al Barsoumian

Al Barsoumian is VP of banking, financial services and insurance at Digital Intelligence Systems, or DISYS. The firm ranks among the largest IT staffing firms in the US, according to SIA.

This past year, Barsoumian transitioned his team to an “industry model” where teams of internal workers focus on serving one industry. The aim is to better understand what their clients are trying to accomplish and their business goals to become a trusted partner. Barsoumian’s focus is on IT recruiting for the financial services industry. The account executives he leads work exclusively with financial clients.

“Just like many people, staffing found me,” he says when asked how he entered the industry. Barsoumian had a computer science degree, but he wasn’t convinced that was what he wanted to do. He came across staffing by chance. He realized he could use both his technology background as well as his social side in talking to people while placing them. Two years into his first staffing job, in 2006, he was a top-four recruiter in the US. He then took on a leadership role at a Boston-based firm in 2010. Barsoumian has managed teams of up to 70 people serving Fortune 500 clients across the globe. He came to DISYS in 2015.

Future plans include continuing to help DISYS grow. He hopes to focus on automation and automation plus staffing — while catering to clients. Outside of business, he spends time with his family.
