CEO Christopher Atiyah began his journey in staffing in London in 2010 following a job selling poker events to bars and pubs in his hometown of Portsmouth, UK. Four years ago, Atiyah co-founded his own technology and engineering staffing firm, Engtal, which today is a $12 million business with four offices across the US and UK. In February 2022, he also co-founded Biotal, a life science, biotechnology, pharmaceutical and healthcare staffing firm.

Atiyah has many reasons to feel accomplished and a laundry list of things to be proud of, but he believes his greatest achievement is the outstanding culture he’s been able to create. “Recruitment has a high turnover, but in seven months we have only had one leaver. That speaks to our culture and shows that everyone buys into the environment,” he says. “My vision is to build a driven, inclusive and diverse company our people are proud to tell their parents they work for.” His motivation comes from the people he employs, and while numbers and data are important, Atiyah loves building a positive workplace culture where employees can laugh, smile and be happy and engaged.

In addition to creating a company that values its employees, Engtal also grew its revenue by over 400% in 2021 and is on track for 300% GP growth in 2022.

Atiyah has many future plans, including growing the company from 60 people to 500 in the next three years. In his own words, Atiyah is on a mission to “build the best company to work for in the world.”
