Since co-founding Contrax VMS in 2012, Managing Director John Clark has been integral in growing and building the multimillion-dollar managed service provider.
Though he describes his foray into the staffing world as “accidental,” it’s abundantly clear from his list of accomplishments that it was the right move. One of his proudest achievements, Clark says, is being on the cusp of making Canadian Business magazine’s Canada’s Fastest-Growing Companies list for the third year in a row. While many companies can achieve a one-time period of growth, Clark explains, it’s much more difficult to sustain that explosive growth year over year. Contrax VMS client spend exceeds $1 billion. He says he’s motivated daily by watching his Contrax teammates find new professional opportunities within the company.
Clark is driven most of all, however, by his company’s ability to provide value to each and every client. “Every single client I have ever worked with, we have moved the needle, and that’s what gets me out of bed in the morning. We have never not changed something to a client’s benefit,” Clark says. “That is awesome when you wake up in the morning and you genuinely enjoy selling a product that actually provides value.”
Looking ahead, Clark says Toronto-based Contrax VMS will continue to build out and refine their offerings. In the next two to five years, they plan to expand past the borders of North America and into most English-speaking countries.
