Matlen Silver’s Michele Beilman believes in leading through mentorship and ensuring her team remains focused on a common goal and stays on track to get the desired outcome. The senior VP of sales and operations joined the company as a recruiter in 2013 and rose quickly to her current role by 2017. Charged with overseeing the company’s southern region, she uses leadership and process improvement skills to bolster the territory, which last year contributed the lion’s share of the company’s growth.
“We had a stellar 2021,” Beilman says. Under her guidance, the southern region grew by an impressive 38% last year, accounting for $15.5 million of the company’s $24 million increase. Historically, the New Jersey-headquartered company had found most success in the North; however, in the last few years, Beilman’s team has landed a number of large enterprise clients, and her region now accounts for more than 50% of Matlen Silver’s total revenue.
In addition, Beilman has worked diligently to secure top supplier rankings in all her large enterprise clients, maintaining a top-three position based on volume and quality ratings.
Amid the rapid growth, Beilman has improved processes, empowered her internal team and removed obstacles to build a world-class organization.
“I want to create an environment where people feel confident to make their own decisions and speak their minds and walk into any day, any meeting, any event knowing that they have the support of an entire team around them,” she says.
