Andrew Moreton gained international labor market expertise while working in the oil and gas sector in the Middle East and Beijing as well as the US. Today, this knowledge proves invaluable in his role as CEO of Conexus MedStaff, a global healthcare staffing agency that hires, grows and supports international nurses who want a thriving US nursing career.

For Moreton, it’s a win-win: Conexus nurses — whom he calls “superheroes in scrubs” — are matched with life-changing opportunities in the US, while filling a massive need in medically underserved communities. “We know communities need nurses to support the health of their people, and our Conexus nurses want to work and grow and become a part of that US community,” Moreton says.

Though Covid caused many companies to press pause, Moreton takes pride that Conexus has continued to grow and that the company rallies together to continue supporting nurses and each other. One initiative, Conexus Connects, brings together small groups of employees to help stay connected while being virtual. “We’ve not been able to connect in-person, but we’ve found the Conexus Connects huddles help us stay focused to further our vision of changing communities one nurse at a time,” he explains.

Moreton is excited about the future of Conexus, including an expansion of offerings for clients and additional innovation in the educational offering for new nurses. He admits his job doesn’t feel like a job at all — a sentiment he hopes the entire Conexus team shares.
