Rebecca Perrault loves the staffing industry because the ecosystem enables her to focus on her passion, DE&I, from multiple sides. As Magnit’s global VP of culture and diversity, she works not only with the organization’s internal staff but also its contingent workers and enterprise buyers.

When Perrault joined Magnit in 2020, she insisted that the contingent workforce needed to be included when it came to DE&I and she was unwilling to compromise that belief. She drew on her previous career experience outside the industry to view the organization’s staffing processes with fresh eyes. “It allowed me to say, ‘These are the best practices, and it doesn’t matter if somebody’s a contract worker or full time — they are a person,’” she explains. “We are talking about humans, and everyone deserves this level of respect.”

Over the past year, Perrault has led the development of numerous policies, programs, educational resources and technologies that promote DE&I within Magnit and across the broader business community. Among her initiatives was the launch of Magnit’s VMS-agnostic self-identification campaign, which helps organizations understand where they have made progress toward DE&I goals and where there is more work to be done.

As she goes forward, Perrault aims to continue her mission of ensuring that employers are making it a priority to treat all people well, regardless of their employment classification. “It can’t be an afterthought,” she says.
