Martha Derbyshire met Spectraforce CEO Amit Singh through a previous job at a business magazine where she cold called for advertising. Singh was impressed by her persistence to obtain his business, and after a meeting with Singh where they discussed staffing, she became interested in the industry; she made the leap to Spectraforce in 2009.
Derbyshire loves working with people and describes herself as “incredibly competitive,” so the staffing industry fit like a glove. Now, as executive VP of client relations, she oversees all of Spectraforce’s sales and client operations. Throughout her career, she has been driven by goals that her team has set, and she’s proud of helping her team achieve those goals as well as helping the leaders on her team flourish. She also continually finds new ways for her team to grow in their roles.
When the pandemic hit in 2020, Derbyshire helped the company pivot from sectors that were hard hit, such as retail, to focus on nursing and healthcare. This strategy led to revenue growing by 21% in 2020, and despite challenges in 2021, the group achieved a remarkable growth of 62% in 2021.
Amid the Great Resignation, Derbyshire credits Spectraforce’s empowering culture, including an entrepreneurial spirit, for having minimal attrition. Having launched in Costa Rica earlier this year, Spectraforce is now eyeing expansion in the UK and Ireland and foresees further expansion in Latin America and Europe.
