Matthew Alderete

As area director for Volt Workforce Solutions, Matthew Alderete provides sales and operational leadership to eight offices from Los Angeles to Santa Barbara, California.

He joined Volt in 2008 on the advice of his father, and has held a number of roles since including sales, national account management, program management and branch management.

Alderete says he’s driven by the staffing industry’s unpredictability — in fact, he thrives on it. “The constant need for adaptation, for growth, the need for a positive attitude and teamwork to be successful, this is the environment that I’ve come to love and thrive in,” he says.

When the pandemic hit last year, Alderete showed just how well he thrives in unpredictable situations.

His region’s market, comprising approximately 60% aerospace, was already in decline prior to the pandemic. Once Covid-19 hit, Alderete’s region pivoted to make inroads in new industries to make up for the lost revenue. His region now leads the company in both new accounts and direct-hire accounts, with an additional 3% bump in gross margin.

To stay energized and motivated, Alderete starts the day with a 10-mile run with his dog. Within Volt, he credits the leadership, guidance and autonomy as well as his service to his company, candidates and employees for keeping him motivated.
