David Tuell

David Tuell, VP of healthcare IT and cybersecurity at Alku, enjoys helping people build their careers. He joined Alku as an SAP recruiter in 2012 after graduating from University of Massachusetts Amherst with a degree in economics. “I enjoyed placing SAP consultants on projects and finding people their dream jobs while helping businesses,” he explains.

After two years, he became a recruiting manager, which enabled him to impact careers in another way. “It was exciting, helping others turn a job right out of college into an eventual career and helping in their development,” he says. He also started a few new divisions for the company: Alku’s Healthcare IT space, Cyber Security, and Data Science, which led to his current role.

“It’s a more strategic role, but there are opportunities to help our best and brightest recruiters and account managers become leaders,” Tuell says. “I focus on creating as many leaders as possible to help the company grow.”

Tuell is enthusiastic about opportunities stemming from emerging technologies such as AI learning. “Two years ago, we didn’t have a data science group, and now it’s one of our fastest-growing divisions,” he says. “It’s exciting to think about what comes next and how can we play a role in ensuring companies get the best people for these types of projects.”

Outside of work, Tuell is committed to supporting the development of young people, including providing scholarships for students at his former high school and volunteering with the Big Brothers Big Sisters program. “I thought I was joining the program just to help kids develop and be a good person, but I got so much out of it.”
